APGA set to adopt Jonathan as presidential candidate




The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has fixed December 17, 2014 for a Special National Convention to formally ratify the appointment of the Anambra State Governor Chief Wiliie Obiano as its leader and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BOT.



The party will also use the Special National Convention to adopt President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate, approve and adopt the APGA amended Constitution.

The National Working Committee (NWC) also suspended the Abia State Chairman of the party, Prince Nnanna Ukaegbu from APGA with immediate effect for what it termed palpable anti-party activities and directed its National Vice Chairman South-East, Uchenna Okogbuo who is also from the state to oversee, coordinate and manage the affairs of the party in conjunction with the Abia state Executive Committee of the party.

The party while rising from a meeting of its NWC in Abuja, also considered and approved the outcome of the Screening Exercise for the National Assembly aspirants in Anambra State.

The National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh and National Secretary Dr. Sani Abdulahi Shinkafi said In a statement that the NWC resolved that the purported clearance of Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu by the 5-man National Assembly Screening Appeal Panel be reversed and his non clearance be restored for the following reasons.

According to them, “The 5-man National Assembly Screening Appeal Panel became truncated and therefore improperly constituted when it did not sit as a full panel in accordance with Article 23(2) of the APGA Electoral Guidelines for primary elections 2014.
