Bilbo and the Dwarves and see the Lonely Mountain as the dragon Smaug destroys Lake City. Bard manages to get out of jail and kill Smaug with black arrow and falling body crushes the Dragon Master fleeing Lake City. Bard, elected as the new leader, and Laketown people seeking shelter in the ruins of Dale. Tauriel travels to investigate Mount Gundabad with Legolas. Arriving at Erebor, Fili, Kili, Bofur and Oin are informed by Bilbo that Thorin has been inflicted with the "disease of the Dragon" Smaug and therefore has gone mad, searching the Arkenstone. It is revealed that Bilbo actually stole the Arkenstone of Smaug but knows to be hidden from Thorin, commanding the entrance to the Lonely Mountain to be sealed. Meanwhile, Galadriel, Elrond and Saruman reach Dol Guldur and free Gandalf and Radagast compromising the Nazgul while Gandalf arrives and escorts away. When the group faces Sauron, Galadriel used the light of Eärendil banish Sauron and the Nazgul of the fortress. Saruman says Galadriel Elrond to take out to safety while he deals with Sauron. Radagast to Erebor Gandalf leaves to warn the orc army approach the mountain. Azog, marching in Erebor with his vast army of Orcs, send Bolg to Gundabad to summon his other army. Legolas and Tauriel witnessed the march Bolg army, reinforced by Goblins and giant bats. Although Bard and survivors take refuge in Laketown Dale, Thranduil and his elf army arrived with supplies and aid, and forms an alliance with Bard, who wishes to claim a string of white pearls mountain. Bard tries to negotiate and reason with Thorin to avoid war, who refuses to cooperate, much to the dismay of the company. After Gandalf arrives at Dale, Bilbo escapes from Erebor to deliver the Arkenstone to Bard and Thranduil. The next day, Bard and Thranduil armies gather at the gates of Erebor, offering to trade the Arkenstone of gold. Thorin learns Deception Bilbo and nearly killed him before Gandalf Bilbo forces to release Thorin. Meanwhile, the cousin of Thorin Dáin comes with a dwarf army and preparing to attack the Elves and Men before Azog army arrives. With the Orcs outnumbering the army of Dain, Thranduil and Bard forces, along with Gandalf and Bilbo, join the battle. Within Erebor, Thorin, refusing to fight, suffers a hallucination before regaining sanity and leading his company into battle. While the other dwarves support forces Dain company, Thorin rides to Ravenhill with Dwalin, Fili and Kili kill Azog and force the orc army to retreat. Meanwhile, after being banished by Thranduil, although she and Legolas warning Bolg army, Tauriel left with Legolas to warn dwarves approaching army of Bolg, with following Bilbo using the One Ring. Bilbo is unconscious as Thorin battles Azog avenge Fili (who had been killed by previous Azog) while protecting Kili dies Tauriel of Bolg. After Legolas kills Bolg, the Great Eagles arrive with Radagast and Beorn, and the armies of orcs are depleted quickly. Bilbo regains consciousness and finds that Azog has been killed by a fatally wounded Thorin, who succumbs to his injuries and dies, but makes peace with Bilbo before. At the suggestion of Thranduil, Legolas allowed to meet with a young ranger Dúnedain goes by the name Strider. Tauriel cries Kili, and Thranduil accept his love. Bilbo's Farewell to the remaining members of the company and travel Thorin's home to the Shire with Gandalf. As the two part, Gandalf admits his knowledge of the ring Bilbo and warns against the use lightly. Bilbo returns to Bag End to find their belongings being auctioned because he was presumed dead. He uses the contract that was presented by the company of Thorin to prove your identity. Sixty years later, Bilbo is visited by Gandalf and runs to meet, thus setting in motion the events of The Fellowship of the Ring.
